I will never get bored of the hypnotic majesty of the full Moon....
It has guided and inspired my entire life, and this is the latest piece born from that. Utilising a process I've been developing involving creating work via sequences of destruction, generally involving fire (Phyre as in my moniker Phorestt Phyre).
Previous works involved Phyre Etchings where scorched wood was etched into to discover the image buried within, it was destruction and creation at the same time.
This work involves melting/burning coloured wax to create a psychedelic surface that is resolutely organic in nature, in contrast to the 'machined/mechanical' chrome ink, that not only actually reflects it's surroundings, but also reflects Man's desire to give force order upon everything, science vs nature.
The contrast in textures is vibrant, yet complementary. Working in tandem… a balance.
